FIRST TIME WITH DMT

My friend who happens to be a Biochemist/molecular biologist, and who has been growing his own potent mushrooms for years, told me that he had synthesized his own DMT. I had drunk Ayahuasca four times already, and I had been researching DMT online thinking it was the next logical step in my inner questing.
My friend gifted me with 15 milligrams, and on first glance I chuckled thinking there was no way this teeny, tiny crystal would ever be enough to get me to break-through to the other side. But I conscientiously did as he instructed, and crushed it finely into a piece of wax paper, until I could sprinkle it on top of a bowl full of oregano in my glass pipe. It looked like frosting on a holiday wreath.
I’m pretty ceremonial by nature; setting and ambiance are part of how I ease into the unfamiliar. Why not dress to impress, in case I meet someone/something that might appreciate a hand-painted and redecorated Tae Kwon Do ‘kimono’. As I lay down in bed, I felt oddly serene, like nothing major would happen, that it would all be over in a moment, so why not relax and enjoy my little Sunday night head-change?
I flicked the lighter and inhaled once. The taste was metallic, and otherwise foreign, it reminded me of sucking on a tailpipe, and no, I have never sucked on a tailpipe before, so I’m not sure why I might compare the taste to that, but nevertheless, I toked again, exhaled, then took another room-changing inhalation…And just like that, previously known constructs and dense matter dissolved into a swirling of melted candle-coloring. Solids were now liquids, and liquids were congealing into new shapes and forms around me.
My partner at the time (a witness, in case this went straight to weird o’clock) told me I started to lift my arms up to the ceiling, and I might have been mumbling incoherently under my breath. I believe he mentioned that from his perspective, there was an undercurrent of a smile beaming from my stupefaction.
From my end of things, consider me transported to an unspecified, subterranean location, seemingly middle-earth, seemingly my childhood backyard, seemingly the body of God, I have no FN clue. I only know that I was partially, if not completely covered in mud and muck. But I could also muster a recognition of my own resplendence.
My ‘new’ shape was that of a diamond spaceship, multi-faceted ‘windows’ or ‘facades’, (re)forming my exo-self. It’s hard to be certain because I am buried in this brownish gunk, so the light refraction in my diamond ship is dim at best, but I am ultra-sensitive, and feeling. This is where my part of the story and my partner’s match up: I remember feeling my arms, and they were living (almost separate entities) of bioorganic material melded into the diamond ship’s navigational organism.
My arms felt like tentacles or tendrils of musculature, comprised of skin, blood, and veins (at least this is my human experience-in-retrospect-understanding). And as I lifted my arms, the diamond ship moved! It wasn’t earth shattering, but the movement was enough to kick off some of the dirt covering ‘me’. And I saw the indication of light, a bright yellow radiance at first, but then prismatic, and ultimately concluding in a soft, gooey twinkle of pink-violet.
This is when I had my most profound moment, where I recognized myself as being cradled in a/the cosmic womb, that my diamond ship was one of the infinite diamond ships being held in the eternal being, which I referred to above as The Oneness of ALL.
I cried like a baby. I was still absorbed in the moment, but I could sense ‘reality’ beckoning me, disturbing me from my embrace of timeless peace. As each tear streamed down my face, my foggy eyes began to clear. I was slowly being brought back into the confines of my room, knowing that I was on a bed, and no longer in my underground diamond ship.
Before I came to, in crystal clarity, I did get a message (certainly not literal, but it came from a place where feelings meet words) and it told me that I am SURROUNDED by love, ALWAYS. And I knew then, like the instant, overwhelming download it was, that I should trust it, feel it, and know it without any doubt. I not only felt surrounded by love but I understood what it was To Be Love(to myself and maybe to others one day).
That experience really gave me chance to rewire my being, like an electrician, to redesign like an architect, to re-ignite like a fire-dancer, that my diamond ship might need more work in uncovering the rest of this mysterious journey I’ve undertaken, but the fact that I have recognized my own consciousness, and a sense of empowerment within that consciousness, was a grand gift indeed.
When I became completely lucid, I bound out of bed like a ten-year-old on Christmas. I felt fully charged like my batteries were given a re-juicing, and I knew from that day forward that drugs/medicines, whatever you want to call them, were a sacred channel, in which, to view dimensional layers/filters on the original lens of living…And, that ‘reality’ would never tuck away neatly into a box again.

Precise Dosing Of LSD

LSD begins its life as a crystal, and from there is distributed in consumable form. In the 60s, “microdots” (tiny pills) and gelatin pills (window panes) were often distributed, along with blotter. Today, blotter paper is the main form in which acid is distributed, although liquid and gel tabs are sometimes encountered as well.

Regardless of the ultimate form it’s distributed, LSD is first dissolved in a solvent, typically either ethanol (Everclear) or a mix of ethanol and distilled water. It is then made into a paste with binding agents and put in a mold to create microdots, has gelatin added to it to make window pane (gel pills), added to blotter paper to make tabs, or sold in liquid form.


How to Take Liquid LSD

Many people who use LSD regularly prefer liquid acid to all other forms, because when properly stored, it can last for many years, absorbs quickly and is easy to effectively split.

Most people prefer to have some food in their stomach, but only a light snack. It is important to avoid drinking tap water, as the chlorine and certain other chemicals used in municipal water supply will destroy LSD on contact. Even bottled water may contain these chemicals, so avoiding drinking water for an hour or so before tripping may be advised.

The simplest way to take liquid LSD is to apply a drop to a sugar cube or on a spoon, place in one’s mouth and keep it there as long as possible to allow it to absorb through the skin. LSD is rapidly absorbed under the tongue (sublingual), and sublingual absorption eliminates any concern around having food in the stomach that might slow absorption. Or worse, having chlorinated water one’s stomach, destroying the LSD.

One should avoid putting liquid LSD directly from the bottle to your mouth to avoid ending up with two drops or zero drops, as it can be surprisingly challenging to see drops. Dispensing onto a medium such as a sugar cube or onto a spoon reduces error. We always have two people watch when we distribute a dose, especially if re-dosing while intoxicated.

Avoid putting doses on anything too small, or medium that has no absorption, as in either case the drop may run off.

When distributing liquid LSD it is important to hold the bottle directly vertical, and to slowly and gently squeeze the bottle to get a uniform drop.

Becoming an Expert on Liquid LSD

The information above is probably all the information one needs to take liquid LSD. Those who want to fully understand the dosing of LSD should read on.

How Liquid LSD is Dosed

There is no standard potency of a drop of liquid LSD. A single drop typically ranges from 75 ugs to 300 ugs, but could be lower or higher.

The manufacturer of liquid LSD will determine the potency of each drop, by controlling the ratio of crystalline LSD to the alcohol/water solvent used.  For example, if a manufacturer wants a 125 ug dose from a single drop and one assumes a standard dropper bottle dispenses 0.05 ml per drop of LSD (this is a commonly used assumption), then one must mix a concentration of 125 ug of LSD per 0.05 ml of final solution.

If preparing 10,000 drops, one would need 1,250,000 ug of LSD (125 ug x 10,000 units = 1,250,000 ug, or 1.25 grams). One would also need enough solvent to produce 500 ml of final liquid.  In this final solution, each 0.05 ml drop of solution contains 125 ug of LSD. (As an aside, the density of LSD is 1.2±0.1 g cm−31.2±0.1 g cm−3, and therefore 1.25 grams of LSD is around 58 ml.  So one would use 442 ml of solvent for 1.25 g of LSD to produce 500 ml of LSD solution).

The key fact is that a single 0.05 ml drop of solution from a dropper bottle consists of a specified amount of LSD and the rest is an inactive solvent.  The strength of the LSD dose can be changed by increasing the ratio of LSD to solvent in the solution.  

To get a desired dose, two conditions must be true:  (i) the LSD solution is at the desired concentration (e.g., 125 ug per 0.05 ml), and (ii) the dispensing device consistently distributes the desired amount of liquid (e.g., 0.05 ml per drop).

Accuracy vs. Precision

When considering methods of dispensing liquids, like a dropper bottle, “accuracy” refers to getting the desired amount of liquid on average.  For example, if we want a 0.05 ml drop, but our dropper gives out five drops: a .03, a .04, a .05, a .06 and a .07 drop, its average is exactly 0.05 ml, and it is therefore an accurate dropper.

“Precision” refers to getting the same amount of liquid each time, whether or not it is the actual desired amount.  So the dropper in the example is not precise, but it is accurate.

Ideally, we would want our dose of LSD to always be the exact dose we want.  In other words, in our case we want every drop to be exactly 0.05 ml; a drop that is both accurate and precise.

If the LSD solution were correctly prepared, so that each 0.05 ml drop contained 150 ug of LSD, the dose of LSD would also then be exactly what we want (and be both accurately and precisely dosed).

Getting the “Right” Dose

In a perfect world, we would get the exactly correct dose every time, with the LSD solution having the correct concentration and the dosing method (e.g., a dropper bottle) dispensing the correct amount of liquid.

Unless one either: (i) has crystal LSD and makes the solution themselves, (ii) buys from a source that is both highly competent and honest, or (iii) or one has access to sophisticated laboratory testing to determine the concentration of LSD in the solvent, it is not possible to calculate the exact concentration of the liquid LSD.

In other words, we can not calculate an accurate dose, because without knowing an accurate concentration we can never know how much LSD is in any dose.  And that turns out that’s totally fine…

We probably won’t know how much LSD is in a dose and therefore we won’t have an “accurate” dose (or at a minimum will have no way to know whether we have an accurate dose).  However, we can have a “precise” dose every time by using liquid LSD of a consistent (but unknown) concentration and measuring the identical volume of liquid for each dose every time.

While we may not know what the actual dose is, we can take the identical dose every time.  Or we can increase the dose by a percentage and know how much we are taking relative to the other times we took it.  This, it turns out, is plenty of information. Simply imagine a world where you had one very large bottle of LSD, and you had never even heard of mics/ug’s. You would simply talk about doses as “a half a drop”, “one drop”, “two drops”, etc. And this would be all the information you’d need. If you knew how strong an experience you’d have with “one drop”, you wouldn’t care how many ug were in the drop. So the best way to get an “accurate” dose, is to have a significant supply of LSD, and store it so it does not degrade. The second best way to gauge doses is to have a single supplier who is skilled at dosing.

Thoughts About LSD Dosing

Erowid and other sources provide the following guidance on doses:

  • Light Dose: 20 – 75 ug

  • Common Dose: 50 – 150 ug

  • Strong Dose: 150 – 400 ug

  • Heavy Dose: 400 + ug

The ranges are very broad, and the descriptions very vague.  It just gives the most basic of information.  A starting point for a new user, but otherwise not very useful.  However, once a user has taken a precisely measured trip, they have established a “baseline trip”.  They have no idea of the actual amount of LSD they have ingested, only the actual volume of liquid they have ingested.  They can then adjust dose higher or lower to obtain a more or less intense LSD effect.

One need never know how much LSD is actually ingested, and instead only know that the dose is the same as the baseline, 10% higher than the baseline, 20% lower, etc.  So with precise measurements, one gets all the information they need.  The actual amount of LSD ingested is essentially irrelevant after the first time.  Only the amount taken versus other trips in the critical information.

This article has been vetted on every major message board, and comments from literally hundreds of users have been incorporated. It is re-submitted every year on Reddit for public comment (the past few years it has received almost universal approval for being accurate, with few suggested changes. And therefore we believe it to be the best guide available on LSD doses and the stages of an acid trip.

So now all is needed for precise dosing is having a consistent LSD concentration and then measuring the liquid dose with precision.

Consistent LSD Concentration

There are two ways to have LSD of a consistent concentration when obtaining liquid LSD.  First, one can purchase a larger quantity of liquid LSD and do everything possible to avoid degradation over time.  Second, one can find a reliable source for liquid LSD and confirm with the source that the methodology for creating the LSD solution does not change over time.

Each approach has pros and cons, but either can be effective.  We believe that properly stored liquid LSD does not demonstrate substantial degradation even over substantial periods of time.  There is a debate over what temperature to store liquid LSD at, including whether to freeze it.  However, we believe that liquid LSD, stored in the dark in a glass bottle at room temperature will not show notable degradation over many years.  We are aware of a user having stored a bottle for over five years for the sole purpose of determining degradation, and has seen no notable change in efficacy over this period.  This person believes in purchasing larger quantities of liquid LSD, and store it.  It is important to understand the legal implications, however, of possessing a significant number of doses.  In Oregon, for example, you may possess forty “units” of LSD to qualify for the “decriminalization” laws.

Measuring a Precise Dose

Liquid LSD is likely to come in a dropper bottle, with a specific doseage associated with a single drop of the solution.  So the first question is whether the dropper bottle will deliver consistent quantity of liquid in each drop.

Fortunately, there is plenty of scientific interest as to whether dropper bottles deliver consistent sized drops, especially related to the delivery of glaucoma medication.  See Reliability of drop size from multi-dose eye drop bottles: is it cause

   Unfortunately, this analysis is very complex – here’s an example, if you would like to see just how complex it is.

However, a few key points are critical:

First, there is no standard manufacture process even for dropper bottles designed for the medical or scientific industry.  See Guidance for industry: container closure systems for packaging human drugs and biologics. Second, scientific testing of medical grade dropper bottles shows variations of up to 25% between the largest and smallest drop of medication (most studies on the precision of dropper bottles focus on the delivery of glaucoma medication) between different bottles, and significant variation among drops from a single bottle.  See An objective assessment of the variability in number of drops per bottle of glaucoma medication

Third, the angle the dropper bottle is held influences the volume of the drop. Gaynes BI, Singa RM, Schaab G, Sorokin Y. Impact of administration angle on the cost of artificial tear solutions: does bottle positioning minimize wastage? J Ocul Pharmacol Ther. 2007

And there are other, less impacting factors, such as how hard the bottle is squeezed, which impacts how quickly the drop is formed, for example.

Minimizing Drop Volume Variation

Our primary concern is to get identical volume in each drop.  From a practical perspective, if using a plastic dropper bottle:

  1. Scientific grade bottles should be used. The dropper bottles should feature a tip designed for scientific applications, such as Thermo Scientific™ Nalgene™ LDPE Dispensing Tips for Dropper Bottles. The cost of obtaining a dropper bottle with this type of tip is less than $0.50 per bottle, cheaper than using a breath mint bottle, with reduced risk for either contamination from residue and increased accuracy in dosing. If you have a relationship with your supplier, have this conversation. The cost of a lifetime supply of bottles is around the same as selling two bottles filled with LSD.

  2. The same type of dropper bottle should always be used to minimize cross brand variations.

  3. The dropper bottle should always be held at a consistent angle when administering drops. Held absolutely vertical, with the tip below the bottom of the bottle is recommended.

  4. The temperature of the LSD at time of administration should be consistent between uses to have a consistent viscosity.

Because we only care about consistency, simply using a single bottle, at a consistent temperature, consistent (slow) squeeze pressure and held at a consistent angle will eliminate much of the variation in the size of each dose.  If each user buys their own bottle, stores it properly, and administers their own drop, the user should have a fairly precise dose each time.

However, there are even more precise methods to measure the liquid volume of a dose, and therefore increase dose precision.

Alternatives to the Dropper Bottle

The most useful alternative to relying upon a dropper bottle is to buy a micropipet to measure consistent 0.05 ml drop sizes.  This approach will give high precision measurements.

If one is willing to spend $175, one approach is to buy an adjustable volume micropipet like this one.  After learning the correct technique for using one (see this video), one is able to accurately and consistently measure small quantities of liquid.  Or one could try the less expensive options like this.

Another method to increase the precision of a dose is to measure out a larger number of doses (say 20) into 200 ml amber glass lab container, using the standard dropper bottle.  If the dropper bottle is generally accurate but not precise, it should still have measured approximately 20 doses (although any given drop may have been more or less than a dose).  The volume should be 1 ml, although it is not practical to measure this without lab equipment.  One then adds a fixed amount of either distilled water or ethanol (or, as we prefer, a 50/50 mix of the two).  For example, one may add 199 ml of the distilled water/ethanol mix to the 1 ml of LSD solution, yielding 200 ml of solution, and an aggregate of 20 doses. Therefore, 20 ml of the new solution will contain one dose of LSD. Using a 20 ml scientific syringe, which costs around $20, one can measure a dose with high accuracy. Even if the measurement measurement is off by a full milliliter, the dose is measured with 95% precision, a range that would not be perceivable to the average user.

Note, it is critical that one use the proper substances to dilute LSD.  Tap water will likely destroy LSD.  Ethanol and distilled water are ideal.  “Everclear” is 92.4 percent grain alcohol, and is commonly used for dilution.  Reddit users commonly refer to using Vodka to dilute LSD, as it is more readily available and certainly should work well if the LSD is not subsequently stored for an extended period.

 

How Fentanly Gets you High

More than a decade into the opioid epidemic, illicit fentanyl and related synthetic drugs are now driving the nation’s spiraling overdose death toll. Involved in nearly half of the roughly 200 U.S. drug overdose deaths every day, fentanyl appears to be here to stay.

“Even if we do a really good job at the border and start making a serious dent in shipments from China and Mexico, we need to anticipate that people will simply start cooking it here. It’s already happening,” U.S. Customs and Border Protection operations manager Stephen McConachie said in an interview.

As governors in the hardest-hit New England, Mid-Atlantic and Midwestern states call for intensified law enforcement efforts and stiffer penalties for fentanyl dealers, public health officials are saying this latest drug scourge underscores the urgent need to get more people into treatment, particularly those who use heroin.

With lethal amounts of fentanyl showing up in heroin and other drug supplies throughout the country, active drug users are at a greater risk of dying than ever before, said Jay Butler, director of public health at the Alaska health department and past president of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials.

Even as the number of new heroin users declined last year, according to a recent survey by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the number of current drug users exposed to fentanyl appears to be growing, Butler said.

One hundred times more potent than morphine, the synthetic drug fentanyl has been contaminating illicit drug markets for decades. A 1988 New York Times article reported a spate of overdose deaths in western Pennsylvania from “China White, a powerful synthetic heroin” that the article said had “plagued California in the early 1980’s.”

But, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, fentanyl’s popularity didn’t take off until 2013, propelling what the agency now calls the third wave of the opioid epidemic, after painkillers and heroin.

Fentanyl is cheap and easy to manufacture and smuggle, and it was involved in almost half of the more than 72,000 U.S. drug overdoses in 2017, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The latest numbers show a sharp increase over 2012, when fentanyl was involved in only 6 percent of the more than 41,000 U.S. drug overdoses.

Detecting Shipments

Fentanyl can be purchased online and shipped directly to a user’s home, prompting some to call it the Amazon of illicit drugs. Many dealers, primarily in Mexico, routinely ship via the U.S. Postal Service, FedEx and other private carriers.

Unlike pharmaceutical-grade fentanyl, which is used in hospitals for severe pain and anesthesia, the precise chemical formula for illicitly made fentanyl has been shifting, making it increasingly difficult to detect in autopsies, hospitals, drug treatment centers and crime labs.

At international mail terminals in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and a handful of other locations, customs officials scan millions of parcels using X-ray devices to identify those that might contain fentanyl and other illicit drugs. And the force began last year to deploy dogs trained to sniff packages and alert agents when they detect fentanyl.

Even when agents find an envelope or parcel containing a white powder they think is fentanyl, it can take days to confirm because dealers continuously change the chemical formulas to elude law enforcement, according to Customs and Border Control.

To deter shipments of fentanyl and other illicit drugs, a wide-ranging opioid bill passed by Congress in October and expected to be signed by President Donald Trump includes a provision that requires USPS to obtain the same kind of basic information from all international shippers — including the name of the shipper, the name of the receiver and the contents of the package — that FedEx and other private shippers already require.
